The Torrid Ice crown

The Torrid Ice crown is inspired by the concept of fire and water co-existing side by side. This is reflected by the water turned into ice, and the fire turned into black ashes.

The piece is created with a high quantity of repurposed material and constructed to create dimension and drama. Glass halos, faux flowers and shimmeeing sequin fabric.

Materials: metal, paint, high quality glass crystals, repurposed jewelry findings, Swarovski rhinestones, metallic lace fabric, plastic headband base, metal comb. 

Lightweight, comfortable.

Fastens with a headband and a comb. 

Sustainability footprint: 95% repurposed materials (the fabric and some of the crystals and metal adornments)

Advise: It is always a good idea when wearing a larger headpiece to not have newly washed hair. It also gets a much better grip if you use saltwater spray or other styling products. Bobby pins can be used as extra security, and a trick to make the comb stick extra well is to do one or two super tiny pony tails with small elastic rubber bands into which the comb is fastened. Secure with extra bobby pins. 

This piece is quite light weight, but due to its size I strongly recommend you to practice wearing it before your event. Practice taking it off and putting it on, get familiar with how it feels on your head and especially practice walking through doors (so you don't smash it into the edge). It is a bit like walking in heels, posture is everything.
